Easy Strawberry Ice Cream

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups heavy cream
1 2/3 cups condensed milk
1 cup strawberries (chopped into small pieces)
3 tablespoons strawberry syrup

Directions:

In a bowl, beat cream using electric mixer on high until soft peaks form. Gently fold in condensed milk, strawberry syrup, and chopped strawberries. Pour mixture into cake pan or any other deep freezer-proof container. Cover with foil tightly. Freeze until firm.

Extra Tip:

For a more natural ice cream omit the syrup and simply use the chopped strawberries. For a smoother strawberry ice cream, place chopped strawberries in blender and blend on high for 1 minute to make a pureed strawberry mixture. Fold into ice cream as above.

Fruity Frozen Yogurt

2 cups chopped fresh fruit of choice
4 cups vanilla yogurt

Healthy Banana Ice

Ingredients:

This is a great alternative to ice cream and works especially well with older babies and toddlers.

2 ripe bananas

Directions:

Place banana in bowl and mash well. Place mashed banana in freezer-proof container and cover well with foil. Freeze several hours or until firm. Remove from freezer, uncover and stand for 5 minutes. Beat mixture with fork until creamy.

Frozen Banana Tails

Ingredients:

4 small bananas
1 cup chocolate chips or grated chocolate or chocolate syrup

Directions:

Place chocolate in microwave-safe bowl and microwave a few seconds until chocolate is melted. If you're using chocolate syrup, simply place a bit of syrup into a shallow bowl. Peel and cut bananas in half (crossways). Insert a Popsicle stick into the base of each banana and dip banana into chocolate mixture or chocolate syrup. Place bananas in foiled-line tray. Cover tray with foil and freeze until chocolate is firm.

Family Ice Cream Bar

Kids love to prepare their own ice cream desserts. Every once in a while, I surprise my kids by setting up an ice cream bar. I lay out favorite ice cream toppings, some yummy ice cream and a few other bits. Then I let them dig in and make their own sundaes or banana splits. The kids love it.

Try it and I guarantee your kids will be absolutely thrilled. Be creative with the idea by adding a few colorful ice cream bowls, napkins and basically just setting the whole thing up to look like a mini ice cream party. The looks on their face will be priceless.

Here are a few topping and ingredients you can use for your family ice cream bar

Pick and choose the ones you like or add some ideas of your own, but be warned one thing you should definitely have on hand is paper towels. Things may get just a little messy….

Sprinkles
Crushed cookies or whole cookies for ice cream sandwiches
Crushed M&Ms
Whipped cream
Cherries
Chopped nuts
Chocolate or strawberry syrup
Marshmallows
Bananas (for banana splits)
Ice cream wafers
Chopped strawberries or raspberries
Chocolate chips
Crushed candy bars of choice
Chopped apricots or raisins

* This is also a great birthday party dessert idea.
